OBJECTIVE
Design and publish a coffee table book that unveils the real-world landscapes that inspired some of Studio Ghibli’s most iconic films. Through a careful balance of immersive photography, thoughtful layout, and elegant typography, the book invites readers to explore the natural and architectural wonders that echo the studio’s hand-crafted worlds.
APPROACH
The typeface, Futura, brings a clean, modern contrast to the organic imagery, while reinforcing a sense of timelessness. The layout emphasizes full-bleed photography and spacious margins to let the landscapes speak for themselves. By combining minimalist typography with nostalgic visual pacing, the book aims to evoke a quiet sense of wonder—inviting readers to wander through each page as if stepping into a memory or dream.
GHIBLI'S REALMS
Studio Ghibli is a renowned Japanese animation studio known for its beautifully crafted, hand-drawn films that blend fantasy, emotion, and deeply human themes. Founded in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, and Toshio Suzuki, the studio quickly rose to global acclaim for its unique storytelling, lush animation, and memorable characters. Studio Ghibli has left an indelible mark on both Japanese and global cinema; its films have inspired generations and continue to be beloved worldwide.
